The 2nd Malaysian Association of Applied Linguistics (MAAL) – Singapore Association for Applied Linguistics Association (SAAL) Symposium 2016
The 2nd MAAL-SAAL Symposium 2016 will be held on 21 October 2016 at AEI, UM with the theme “Applied Linguistics as a 21st Century Discipline: Implications for Pedagogy and Professional Communication”.
The AKYS Workshop 2016 will focus on various aspects of Malaysia, with sessions led by local experts and scholars from different disciplines. In general, the workshop aims to deepen the participants’ understanding of Southeast Asia in general and Malaysia in particular, while at the same time providing a setting for academic interaction between Southeast Asian and South Korean young scholars.
Professor Dr. Muhammed Haron is currently Professor at the Department of Theology and Religious Studies, University of Botswana, and Associate Researcher in the ‘Study of Islam’ programme at the University of Johannesburg.
The 2016 Australia-ASEAN Women in Leadership Mentoring Program will run for 12 months and bring together women from Australia and ASEAN countries to develop a meaningful professional network, and collaboratively identify ways to elevate more women into leadership positions across ASEAN and Australia.
The main purpose of this conference is to strengthen cooperation in higher education between Malaysia and the EU by focusing on balanced mobility among students and academics and improving the exchange of ideas and resources in Malaysia and Europe.
The Asialink Conversations were initiated in Australia in 2002. They are an intimate, retreat-style dialogue of around 40 leaders from ASEAN and Australia. Participants in The Conversations explore shared challenges and concerns while creating new and strengthened networks of leaders in ASEAN and Australia cognisant of the common interest we all have in a prosperous, peaceful and cohesive region.
The workshop will convene for half a day with participation from around 20 individuals with experience and interest in haze-related issues, including those from NGOs, academia, the corporate sector and the government. The key partners are Asia Europe Institute (AEI), Jabatan Pengajian Antarabangsa & Strategik (JPAS) and the Centre for ASEAN Regionalism University of Malaya (CARUM).
AICHR “Regional Workshop on the Role of Youth in Promoting Human Rights in ASEAN: Making Rights a Reality”
The main objective of this workshop is to continue raising awareness among the youth of ASEAN as well as to equip them with all-embracing knowledge and understanding on ASEAN particularly its human rights body and related instruments, namely the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR)
